PHECC Cardiac First Responder (CFR) Course

This Cardiac First Responder (CFR) course is recognised by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).

The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to recognise cardiac arrest, perform Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

On completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise Cardiac Arrest
  • Perform CPR (on separate line)
  • Use face masks and bag valve masks (BVM)
  • Use an AED (on separate line)
  • Recognise and treat choking
  • Stroke assessment (FAST) and treatment
  •  Aspirin (spelling) administration (on separate line)
  • Critical Incident stress awareness
  • Legal indemnity issues (on separate line)

 Assessment: Theory test and practical skills assessment

Duration: 4 hours

Certification: Successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED by PHECC

Participants: Maximum 10 per course

Refresher Training: Certification is valid for two years. Refresher Training will be required thereafter
